I know that it has been forever since I last wrote on the blog. I am going to try to do a brief update for both April and May - especially since I feel like the two months have collided into one.
On Monday morning after Easter, we received a call that Robbie's mom had been rushed to the emergency room. We eventually found out that she had suffered a stroke and that it was urgent for Robbie to return home. We were blessed to be part of a unit who had funds to fly all 4 of us home to be with Momma. After being told at 8 am that we getting on a flight at noon and packing 2 adults and 2 kids...we got on a plane. During our flight home, they tried to drain some of the blood of Momma's brain and unfortuantly, it caused another stroke - this time on the left side of her brain. By the time we arrived, all of the test indicated that the frontal lobes of Momma's brain were no longer functioning. Basically, the parts that make us who we are and give us our personality weren't working. After a few days of speaking with doctors and making arrangements, Robbie made the toughest decision of his life and decided that this was not the life that his mother would want. She passed away Friday, April 9th at 5:30pm. We are blessed to have wonderful family and friends who traveled many miles to be with us and family who were there to comfort us. We both know that Momma is now with the Lord and enjoying life in Heaven but it was hard to let her go. We are also grateful that ALL of us got to go home and be with our family. We never thought that we would lose her while we were here or that we would get a free cheap trip home. I know that the Lord had it all planned out. Each day is hard and different and we are still trying deal with everything. So that was our April!!
